The Ford F250 was completely redesigned for the 1997 model year. The most conspicuous
changes were the more rounded nose, raked windshield and an overall sleeker look.
But the most significant changes were those under the hood. It boasted of a co
mpletely new front suspension as well as a new frame. The most notable development
was the introduction of the new Triton family of engines. The 1997 Ford F250 offers
excellent powertrain with an overhead cam V8 under the hood. The F250's engine
is either 4.6L, 8 Cylinders or 5.8L, 8 Cylinders.
All models feature a standard third door located on the passenger side. And to
give the F250 a more stable foothold the wheelbase has been extended for up to
five inches. In terms of capacity, the standard suspension of the F250 is 2400
and trailer weight is 2100. The optional suspension maximum weighs up to 3890lbs
and up to 8800lbs. The Super Cab models feature a standard 8-foot bed or optional
6-foot bed.
